Krav Maga is an effective, realistic, street-based self-defence system. Krav Maga aims for students to reach a basic core level of competency, in as short a period of time as possible.
For us at Krav Maga Australia this means teaching simple, effective techniques and concepts that anyone can use in a self-defence situation. This includes taking into account all the physical, emotional and psychological impacts of being in such a situation.
The main rationale behind Krav Maga is to end the attack as soon as possible and can be described as follows: “everything is permitted when you are fighting for your own or others’ lives!”
At Krav Maga Australia one of our core philosophies is “our attacker doesn’t play by any rules to attack us, so we don’t play by any rules to defend ourselves”. The objective in everything we teach is to give our students the skills and tools to do as much as they have to, but as little as they need to, to create the time or distance needed to make an effective escape.
Krav Maga is a modern and effective system of self-defence developed, built and continually adjusted to satisfy the needs of the present time. Therefore, Krav Maga is a continuously evolving art, which gets better day-by-day.
This is a philosophy that we take very seriously and are truly passionate about. “We are always the student and sometimes the teacher”. KMA instructors are continuously learning new and different skills to evaluate, analyse, adapt and add to our system as appropriate. We will never be locked into a certain set of skills or techniques. We are continuously looking for anything that will help us add value to our students. This extends beyond self-defence techniques to include specialised training that we have undertaken such as trauma informed coaching, youth mental health first aid, working with ADHD and various neuro-divergent students.
Krav Maga is known worldwide for its practicality and effectiveness and is utilised by law enforcement agencies and defence forces around the globe.
